"Clock strikes upon the hour
And the sun begins to fade.
Still enough time to figure out
How to chase my blues away.
I've done alright up till now
It's the light of day that shows me how.
And when the night falls
The loneliness calls.
The loneliness calls.
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me.
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me."
As soon as December 26th hit, our store's playlist changed for the coming Valentine's Day. Goodbye Christmas music, hello never-ending love songs!
*sigh*
They've been playing this Whitney Houston classic a lot at work. Whenever it comes on the speakers, I find a remote spot in the store and lightly twirl--dancing with myself--welling up just enough to make my eyes glisten.
But for my version, imagine the lyrics being sung slower and softer, with a hint of sadness.
Such a lonely life I lead, immersed in work--and my art when there's time.
Maybe that's all I'll have.
I keep telling myself one day that'll change but a part of me no longer believes.
Deep down I can't deny something is missing. The yearning won't let me.
I feel so emotional and alone right now. That's because you are, Dean.
Ah, to have a wonderful man's embrace. To be near him...with somebody who loves me.
"I've been in love and lost my senses
Spinning through the town.
Sooner or later the fever ends
And I wind up feeling down.
I need a man who'll take a chance
On a love that burns hot enough to last.
So when the night falls
My lonely heart calls.
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me.
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me."

I know your time is tight. It's our working paradox: you spend most of your time doing something to make money to do what you really want to with what little time is left.
Have you thought about volunteering, where you might meet someone with similar likes? You're an artist, how about working with kids or seniors or at a hospital? My partner's an art teacher. We met on gay.com.
There's the chat/cam cesspool. But, you will find the values you hold for yourself. If you want cheap sex, you'll find it. If you want more (better) you'll find it but you'll have to search a lot longer and harder for it, and kiss a couple frogs who don't turn into princes along the way. But, when you do find "it", it's much sweeter and more precious. I don't like that you're down.
You're cute as a bunny, intelligent, looking for a good man to share life with. I understand the drudgery of what you have to do to survive, I just think you have a lot going for you and you should realize that and put it out there.
RIP Whitney

I agree with this but it just seems like "it" will never happen for me again.
I did volunteer for about four years in my mid-20's but never met anyone from doing that. I'm not sure about volunteering again simply because I'm so tired from work and just don't have the free time for it.
I appreciate the suggestions though!

It's hard enough to get husband out on a dance floor. It took begging for the entirety of my sister's wedding until he finally danced with me for about 2 minutes. and then, I was too drunk to remember it....
Tamayn!
Slow-dancing is soooo romantic!

Attended that concert tour on it's 3rd leg in Lexington, KY back in the day. Miss her too.
Randy!
How wonderful that you got to hear her sing live!
