Thursdays are mine!

I got to sleep in today. I never thought I'd say that again.

Three weeks ago I mentioned the store manager at the crafts store I work at insisted I give up my only day off from both jobs.

Well last week the district manager (who oversees several stores) gathered all the associates together and informed us the store manager had been "let go".

Oh, how the tables have turned!

So I simply asked the assistant store manager if I could have my Thursdays back.

"I don't see why that's a problem," she said.

And *poof* Thursdays became my day off once more!

Oh yeah!

It's a bittersweet victory. All of the original managers who were mean to me have either transferred, left, or were fired.

Their replacements have all been much nicer and more helpful.

And yet this week marks a year since I've been working there. My God, a year. I still dislike that job very much. Though it's gotten better it's still very stressful and wears me down A LOT.

I keep hoping that something better comes along but instead time just keeps passing me by.

*exhausted sigh*

I'm sorry you're that exhausted, but, believe me or not, sometimes out of the blue my mind is talking to me, we both hope he is doing fine right? Honestly :) all the best!

Awww yeah man!!

Huzzah for arseholes leaving and nicer folks coming in!

A year at the job?! Good on ya, man. With the turnover rates and 'economic upheaval'... that's a victory to enjoy.

Hmm.. today's also a year of my art blog thingy. Seems this week is something we can both have something to celebrate. ^_^

Working there may suck, but now you've got income AND Thursdays!!! So happy for you, Dean. More good things are still to come (and things that suck will continue to be thrown into the mix). Cheers to Thursdays!

But, at least this horrible job is improving a tad bit. And, it's proof that Karma is out there. I choose to think that means good things are coming your way!!

Thursdays are my favourite day of the week! I really like your new photo on your about me section. That smile almost seems real.

You are really cute, you really shouldn't have any trouble finding someone to love.

Congratulations!!! I'm very glad for you. It's great to have a day to stop for breath.

Keep your head up, Dean, and good things will come. I've been working two jobs for almost 3 years...well, actually 4 years. And the only thing keeping me going is the prospect that eventually my debt will be dialed down. Happily I had yesterday off from both jobs (I get one day off once a month.) :)

The rain can't come soon enough!

Thank you, kind sir!

Just read your link!

It sure is!

Happy Anniversary to your blog!

Me too!

Yes, I keep reminding myself that at least I'm earning income. Not everyone can say that in this economy.

*fingers crossed*

Paintings and Wanderings!

Thank God it's Thursday!

I don't know that they'll be amazing. I'll most likely be sleeping in and vacuuming that day.

Mind Of Mine!

I love Thursdays too, Ian! It's the day I get my hair cut, go to my local comic shop, run my errands, and get all my cleaning done.

Oh, and I have NO problem finding someone to love. It's trying to find someone who will stick around and want to love me back that's the problem!

Amen to that!

I don't know how you do it, J.P.!

Everyone's encouraging words are greatly appreciated!

Don't know how I missed this until now, but, YAY!!! for having Thursdays back!

BTW, excellent use of the word "*poof*" LOL.

Anyway, I'm really glad to have this news.

I wonder if the store manager's insistence that you work Thursdays was related to his/her being let go. I mean, maybe his/her performance was inadequate and s/he thought that having you work on Thursdays would get profits back to where they needed to be for him/her to keep the job.

I will do just that!

No, the store manager wanted me there on Thursdays because that's "truck day" when all the inventory arrives and she needed to be focused on that.

She didn't want to be bogged down doing the deposit that day which falls under my position (she has to do part of my job on the days I'm not there).

Thanks to both of you gentlemen!

I consider my Thursdays sacred. Love having that day off!

Here's hoping that after a few Thursdays off you start to feel a little more rested. I think it's GREAT that the mean people are gone. Karma, and all that.... Don't think that time is passing. You are stronger than you were a year ago. I can hear it in your 'voice'. And now, on your resume, you have a year's experience, and longevity in this place. (I know you hate it. It is SO beneath you.) But we learn something from every experience, good and bad. I'm happy for your Thursday. Make sure you do something that makes you smile every day off....

Thursday has been my day off for the past four years so I was VERY protective of it and needed to get it back!

Thank you for the encouraging words!

I appreciate you both stopping by!
