Nude Male Ink Sketch - Reclining Pose

Pen and ink on paper - 8" x 10 1/2" (SOLD)

I haven't done one of these in soooo long!

The last time I went to an open studio life drawing class was sometime last summer. I've just been too busy helping my family right now to go back.

Here's one of my ink sketches that I still saved.

I really love this pose, especially the shadows being created from each leg. The figure is almost fading into existence!

One of these days I've got to go back.

God, how I miss it!

Wow! Kudos to your attention to the details. I'm a great fan of nude art - paintings, sketches, photographs... There's something to nude art - something more thought provoking, something subtler than the conventional forms!

Love the nude! i'm thinking of taking up life drawing again, it's been on my mind for a few weeks now.

I have only drawn nudes twice, and those were in class. I thought it would be awkward for all of us in the class, but everyone did quite well. Great drawing, Dean! I wish I could draw as well as you!

Lovely work... I'm thinking with such a natural talent the classes are fun and quite nice to hone your skills, but there is no reason you're not capable of jumping into the thick of it and making a career with your given talents.

Dean this is amazing! Do try and return, even in the midst of caring for your family, it might really help lift your spirits. Caring for others takes a lot out of us and you need some time for yourself if you can find it. Your work as always moves me. I'm actually working on your mail piece! Take good care and work!

You need to post your work on your blog!

Jason!

Thanks!

Christopher!

Well, I haven't been able to make a career out of my artistic abilities yet!

Suzanne!

I can't wait to see my Mail Art from you!

I appreciate the wonderful comments from everyone!

I'm going to be honest with you, as I love how you are to me... I am not a huge fan of, as I call them, 'crotch shots'. LOVE nudes, and you are really masterful in terms of defining the musculature and shadows, to I like that. But I like a little more indirect genitalia ;)

This is an awesome drawing, Dean. It might be a little "in you face" for some, but the figure looks so well done and ...

Kelley!

Personally, I think by not having the face shown and the very relaxed nature of the body helps keep this sketch more subtle and "clean". It could be so much dirtier if you think about it!

Carol!

See my response to Kelley up above. I understand where you're coming from though this wasn't meant to be in your face. That's just how the model was positioned at the time. Honest!

Thanks to both of you ladies for your honest feedback!

Love the image, love the comments and your responses...and as a gay man, no - it is not too much in my face. Ha ha - hope that is not too vulgur.

Dean!

Funny how some people think it's too much and others not enough.
