Tonight my soul burns brighter.....

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." -- Anais Nin

I rarely talk about it. It means so much to me. Like a fragile newborn, I cradle and protect it. But the time has come to grow and take a chance.

On what would've been my dad's birthday, I launched my second blog this afternoon. A blog all about my dream of becoming a comic book illustrator! It's a way of reconnecting with the goal. To reignite the passion!

I'm nervous and scared and excited all at once. Deep inside I can feel it wanting to shine like the sun!

Is it too soon or just right? Only time will tell. The main thing is that I try....and begin! But I know for sure I'm not getting any younger and after waiting years for the dream to come to me, I am going after the dream....and sharing it with all of you!

And I WILL have it! Go, Dean, go!!

Ahhh, can you see it? Tonight my soul burns brighter.....

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."

Good for you, Dean!

I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever really dreamed about being anything (except for wanting to be a train engineer - but I was 7 years old, what did I know?)

I've tried my hand at painting and other artistic things, but I get bored quickly and move on, and left wondering what it is that actually IS my passion.

To this day I still don't know, but I do enjoy writing and making others laugh and feel good about themselves. Maybe that's it - I don't know.

But I will admit I've always felt there is a book or two within me waiting to get out. I just need a starting point.

All best to you!

Go, Dean, Go!!

Yes. Time to try, time to begin, when it has become more painful to stay in bud than to open. (What a wonderful quote that is.) You're right, of course, that there is no way of knowing how well you'll succeed, but it's worth the effort. I hope your dreams will become reality.

And the photo: you look happy in the light, with the traces of a smile.

It's never too soon to run after dreams. Don't forget that you never know what surprises tomorrow might bring - bad or good. Fight for what you believe while you have time to do so and you'll rewarded for sure!
All the luck in the World for you!

Wow, impressive cartwheel and backflip! You really can move! (~_^)

When the time is right, you will find your own starting point, Corey!

I shall burn like the sun!

I love that quote too! I thought it was very fitting for this post.

Let's hope you're right!

I'm definitely passionate about comic books!

I'm not entirely sure where the sudden motivation came from but I'll hold onto it while I got it, David!

Thank you everyone for the supportive words!

Sometimes getting what you want and living your dream requires taking that leap of faith. One Step at a time. Live your passion!

You go for it Dean and follow your dreams with a passion!!!
If you don't take a chance, ask yourself what else are you going to do with your life?
Life would be so boring without dreams...
The world is your Oyster!:)
Best wishes for this year.
By the way, if you did live near me, I would go for walks with you too!;)

I am following your new blog and I will add it to my creative blog list, to encourage more bloggers your way.

Dang Dean.... I feel like a late comer with your overwhelming response to your new project. You must feel pretty darn good with all the well wishes and support you've received on your new venture. I'll throw mine in too. I think it's a great idea.

I really like this photo. I'm thinking maybe you should do one of your awesome paintings of it.

GO, DEAN, GO! That is a motivational line if I ever heard one. It has to come from within and it sounds like it has, the fire is ignited, there is no where to go but up!

Dean, you can do it. Just do the next right thing. Do the work. Get it in front of everyone.
Discipline yourself, and, take care of that depression. It has stolen far too much from is your time.
I think of you often....;)

That's part of the reason for creating the second blog. It's a way to express that dream, share my progress along the way, and keep myself accountable to the viewing audience.

I'm going! (^_^)

I appreciate the nice words from the three of you!

Take the plunge. Go for it. What have you got to lose?
I loved the quote about budding into a flower.
Are you on Facebook, Dean?
I searched for your name, but didn't find you.

hey Dean, talent is nothing without the hard work. if this is something you want to do and you have a genuine passion for it then really focus on it and give it high priority over everything, including the blog. set yourself realistic targets. the world of getting stuff printed in the comic industry is probably tougher than art (and artists have suffered poverty throughout history) so if this is your decision get your nose to the proverbial grindstone:) good luck and best wishes r.

Woo-Hoo!!! Go Dean! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Taking the plunge. I'm doing just that!

And no, I'm not on Facebook!

I know it will be tough for sure but I'd really like to be a comic book illustrator so what choice do I have but to go for it, right?

Thanks to the three of you ladies for the well wishes!

Dean this is a fantastic way to honor your Dad, and your dreams. OMG you are going to ROCK! Do one thing a day that scares you - and you will be surprised at how brave you grow! (Although I believe you are a brave person anyway..)

I echo you...

please don't give up after one afternoon. for me, thinking of a new direction is so much more exciting than actually sitting down to do it. don't lose hope, don't give up. never give up. there will be darkness but that only means light is just around the corner. your are too good to stop.
