"Abstract Squares" (ongoing series)

Watercolor on watercolor paper - 8" x 10" (SOLD)

I had a craving for color. Reds, Yellows, Blues, Greens. Bright hues I could sink my proverbial teeth into and whet my appetite.

This is one of my favorite abstract series to paint. It's just so simple and pleasing on the eyes. Being so colorful doesn't hurt either!

Everything is so neat and lined up yet within each square the colors are allowed to run and bleed where they like.

Time to loosen up my proverbial belt a bit. I'm feeling full now!

Love this.... I wonder how it would look on a much larger scale?

I was feeling sleeping already, but this painting woke me up, immediately!
Love it, in simplicity relies elegance. Love it!

Definitely a fascinating piece. I'm not sure ho it would be if each square were just a solid color, but I think it's more interesting with the colors running and bleeding, as you say.

BTW, I've put in a bid, so everybody else had better got their bids in.

Kathleen!

Thanks!

Sheila!

I was thinking just that! I always toyed with the idea of doing a HUGE version of Abstract Squares.

Imagine how cool a 2' x 3' painting with ALL those colorful squares would be!

Carolina!

My paintings are more effective than coffee! *(~_^)

naturgesetz!

Since this is an ongoing series, I've done other Abstract Square paintings just like this one.

Some have had all solid squares while others have two or more colors intermingling.

It just depends on my mood. Guess I was feeling a lot of movement in me this time around. (^_^)

I appreciate you all stopping by!

Dean, this is lovely! Can you teach me how to create my own at home? :) It would be neat to hang up some personal artwork in my home. I'm not nearly as talented as you are and I figured this might be a project I can't screw up, right? Wrong? Eek!

That's absolutely beautiful Dean! It reminds me of the sky.

Meeko!

Or you could just bid on mine. *(~_^)

Rain!

Interesting you should say that. I kind of think they look like colored clouds too!

Thank you two for the nice comments!

Can you show pics of any of the other Abstract Squares?

Dean Grey said...

I'm sorry, naturgesetz, but the last Abstract Squares painting I did was over a year ago.

It's long been sold and forgotten about I'm afraid.

And I don't have an image of it!

But basically the older paintings are all the same size/dimensions with the same amount of squares. Only the color placement and the colors themselves are different each time.

Wish I could be of more help!

Well this one won't be forgotten about, now that I won the auction and it has arrived. It's great.

Enjoy your new painting!

Dean! This is lovely! And I am SO pleased it has gone to such a wonderful home, too, where it will be loved and appreciated.

I hope that you paint a series of them - now that I am working again, I can afford to put in a realistic offer, at last!
